L'inconnue de la Seine follows the story of “Ariadne” and “Theseus” who fled their hometown together because of the domestic situation of her punctuated by physical and mental abuse, now living on the streets of Paris.

The names of the characters portrayed have been changed for protection of the subjects depicted and the lack of permission in publishing the images.
Though against the wishes of the actors in this project who have positive desire to show their identity and tell their story.
This possibility, for the time being, has been taken away. Their story has changed. The face of “Ariadne” removed by herself scratching off the image on the print.

Their present, the escape from what they have lived, the street life of which “Theseus'” body is nicked and tired of it when in contrast “Ariadne” finds in it a feeling of freedom while feeling the weight of it.
During the first months in paris “Theseus” has completely detoxified with methadone therapy.
“I did it for her. I have to be responsible for her, sometimes I feel like our relationship is similar to father and daughter.
Sometimes she is the one who takes care of me sometimes the other way around. But she is full of energy, I on the other hand am tired of the street life. My body is tired, I want to find a home and work buy an RV and leave with her.”

Their future.
“I was always lonely, socially, and the situation in the family was heavy between my father and my mother. Theseus was the only one who believed in me. I had to go, I wouldn't trade my freedom for anything in the world. I just feel sorry for my younger sister. Past this year I want to come back, study, build my life.”
Ariadne

The photos are not meant to heroicize or romanticize a difficult situation, they are meant to open an unbiased window into the lives and intimacy of two people whose story has always been told according to the eyes of others, a view from which they detach themselves with only a desire to construct their own version, whatever it may be. 
Putting us back as spectators and not judges. 
Them protagonists of their own lives.
